Becky Raike Retires, Valerie Meyer Appointed as Director of Finance

TJ Wies Contracting extends warmest wishes to Becky Raike upon her retirement, concluding a successful twenty-eight-year career with TJ Wies Contracting, Inc. When Becky first started at TJ Wies, the company was headquartered in the basement of Owner and President Tim Wies’ house. There were only a handful of employees, and she rode her bike to work. Becky’s accurate and precise development and management of TJ Wies’ accounting systems over the last quarter-century enables day-to-day administrative duties to be performed efficiently and effectively. In her retirement, Becky plans to spend more time at her home-away-from-home, Kentucky Lake, as well as with extended family in Ohio.

Becky said, “We have come a long way from the three people working out of Tim’s basement and three field employees to the multi-million-dollar company that TJ Wies is today. I am grateful to Tim for the opportunity to be a part of this family for so long, and thankful for the relationships I’ve formed with coworkers through the years.”  

In accordance with TJ Wies’ Strategic and Succession Plans, Valerie Meyer was named to follow Becky as Director of Finance. Valerie began her career in the construction industry with TJ Wies in 2013 as a Project Administrator, responsible for billings, accounts receivable, and project document administration. Valerie was appointed to TJ Wies’ Leadership Team in 2020 and has worked closely with Becky in preparation to take over this role. As Director of Finance, Valerie manages the day-to-day administration of accounting functions and works closely with fellow Directors on TJ Wies’ Leadership Team to ensure elements of TJ Wies Contracting’s Strategic Plans are implemented and executed.

“I am excited to take on the role of Director of Finance. Becky has been a great mentor in my time at TJ Wies, and has adequately prepared me in the year leading up to this transition. We have a great team and I am eager to continue my career with TJ Wies,” stated newly appointed Director of Finance, Valerie Meyer.

It’s been delightful watching her grow with the company over twenty-eight plus years in her role managing TJ Wies’ accounting processes and administrative personnel as Director of Finance. She is intelligent, trustworthy, and dependable. I will miss Becky dearly and wish her well in the new adventures that retirement brings. Valerie Meyer has been working closely this past year with Becky and I have the utmost confidence that she will be very successful succeeding Becky as Director of Finance.”
